It was reported that internet users have been illegally selling tickets online for Xiah Junsu’s ‘Tears of Heaven‘ musical for around $1130 USD each.

15,000 tickets of the musical sold out at an unbelievably rapid rate of 5 minutes, which have been causing unlucky fans, both Korean and international, to purchase tickets from resellers at an alarmingly high price.

“We’re always thankful for the explosive interest for the musical, however, we are worried for those who are trying to get hold of the sold out tickets through illegal resales,” stated the producer of ‘Tears of Heaven’.

Meanwhile, the first performance of “Tears of Heaven” will be held on February 1st of 2011.

[news] 101223 SME Releases Official Statement Regarding Fair Trade Commision Revisions

SM Entertainment has released an official statement regarding the contract revisions demanded by the Fair Trade Commission.

SME officials clarified on the 24th, “The FTC only ordered us to revise the contract of one of our trainees by removing the three years added onto his contract. We complied, thus making every contract under our agency to date as ‘fair’. BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x), The Trax, and other celebrities under our agency have already been acknowledged as fair contracts by the FTC.”

They continued, “As leaders of the industry, we have been cooperating closely with the National Assembly and other related bureaucracies in order to protect the rights and interests of our celebrities, and to aid in the advancement of Korea’s entertainment industry and the Hallyu wave.”

After numerous discussions with the FTC, SME drafted a new contract earlier this year with the changed terms mentioned in the previous article. All artists re-contracted with the agency under the new terms, which were acknowledged by the FTC to be fair.

The representative continued, “We fully complied with the recent request by the FTC regarding our contract with a trainee. With the help of the FTC, we will be developing better contracts for the progression of Korean culture and contract customs.”

When we made a comment to Junsu that, "There have been many articles comparing you to Jo Seung Woo. As your musical will be held around the same time as Jo Seung Woo's 'Jekyll and Hyde', many have pitted the two of you against each other as rivals," he replied back that, "I am both thankful and sorry to Jo Seung Woo that many people talk about the two of us. In other words, I feel honored."

He continued to add, "Though I've been a singer for 6, 7 years, I've only been doing musicals for one year, so for my name to be mentioned in the same sentence as that of Jo Seung Woo, one of the best actors in the industry, makes me feel great but also puts added pressure on me to work harder."

Junsu also spoke of his wish that, "This is the first time I'm saying this, but I want to stand on stage with Jo Seung Woo. 'Jekyll and Hyde' is a production I really want to perform in. But if we were to play the same role, we would never be able to stand on stage together, so I would like to play a different character just to stand on stage with him."

Group JYJ will be releasing a new album that is comprised solely of their compositions.

JYJ recently revealed to Money Today Star News that, “JYJ will be releasing a Korean album early next year in which the members participated in the composition and the writing of the lyrics,” and “The album will hold the unreleased compositions by Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu that were sung at the concert as well as other songs that have never been heard before.”

This album is being released by JYJ as a form of fan service for their domestic fans. JYJ are preparing this album to show their fans their gratitude for the support they received when they released their worldwide album in October.

As their first album was sung in English and was made hand in hand with America’s top producer Kanye West, the upcoming album is predicted to bring about an explosive reaction from domestic fans as it will be released in Korean. The album will hold new songs such as ‘Nine’ and ‘Pierrot’.

In the first half of 2011, JYJ will be releasing their album and setting off on a world tour. They are planning to focus on their overseas promotional activities and take a leap forward as world stars.

[news] Fair Trade Commission forces SM Entertainment to revise unfair contracts

SM Entertainment received a firm order from the Fair Trade Commission to revise the unfair contracts which bind SNSD, Super Junior, SHINee, and many others to them.

On December 23rd, the Fair Trade Commission stated, “We gave them a warning to voluntarily correct the unfair exclusive contracts that their celebrities and trainees have signed. [SME] is to reduce all contract lengths by three years.”

This decision by the FTC was based off of a complaint made by TVXQ’s fanclub, Cassiopeia. The group alleged that SM Entertainment was using their status to pressure a disadvantaged (’slave’) contract onto TVXQ.

SM Entertainment’s violation, as disclosed by the FTC, lies in the unfair contract conditions. These conditions included forcing artists to sign on for a long period of time, an excessive penalty provision for breach of contract, and a one-sided scheduling of activities. There’s also a clause that allows SME to extend contracts for overseas activities without first consulting the artist in question.

According to the FTC, these contracts from SME would run ‘for 13 years starting from the day of signing‘ or ‘exceeding 10 years from the day of debut.’ In compliance with the FTC, however, SM Entertainment changed their contracts to ‘seven years from the day of debut.’

If the artists decided to terminate their contract prematurely, they were subject to heavy penalties. Artists were forced to pay three times the investment amount, plus two times the amount the artist was to have made during the entire length of the contract. In short, even though the contract was terminated, these artist would have to pay double the amount of money they would have made in ‘x’ years left.

Because of the FTC order, however, this was changed to artists now paying an average monthly sales of two years before the contract termination, multiplied by the number of months in the remaining period.

The entire clause allowing activities to be scheduled without the artist’s consent has also been removed. It has been replaced with, “All celebrities of SM Entertainment may include their opinion at any point and ask for the appropriate document copies regarding their career from SM. SM has the right to refuse should the request be unjust.”

This new revision is expected to make an influence on JYJ’s case as well.

Some time ago, Kim JunSu accepted an interview with the Korean media, 
and talked about the circumstance of him raising kittens recently.

Due to the influence of fellow member Kim JaeJoong, Kim JunSu has 
also recently started to raise kittens. Despite him having a slight allergy,
all that he need to do is to watch over the kittens, and he said he would 
feel as if he was watching over his own children. "Because it's an independent life, 
I always feel lonely. And so I bought the kittens last week. Compared to puppies, 
kitten faeces are easier to take care of, and also they would not bark like puppies do. 
Considering that I am often not at home, I felt that raising cats were the most suitable choice."

"If you raise cats, wouldn't they always be staying at home? Raising a cat especially, 
it's always like returning to the house where the cats live." 
Upon facing this question from the reporter, Kim JunSu said, 
"Even though the number of pets at home is quite a lot, but due to a fairly large home, 
it will not be that dirty. Now when I go home, it’s really good not to 
have the feeling of loneliness anymore. Every time when I open the door, 
the kittens would run out to greet me. And after bathing, I will also see 
them at the door looking at me with their big round eyes wide open."

"Raising four kittens, is that too many?" "Compared to raising only one, 
I would think of not leaving them. I had wanted to raise yet another two more, 
but the members (of JYJ) opposed, and in the end I gave up."

"Because I'm raising a total of four cats, I have also spent 
a lot on buying their food. I should have made them exercise more, 
but in the end it did not succeed and (they're) growing so quickly, 
about as big as a mountain goat. So, now I plan on following JaeJoong hyung’s 
footsteps and buying a treadmill to let them exercise moderately."

On the other hand, in the case of Park YooChun, he is only raising a dog. 
"He has allergies to both cats and dogs, and even if a dog owner were to pass him by, 
he would start coughing. But now, he has been able to slowly adapt to it.”
