GUH-ROH JAESHIN | YOO AH IN
The ‘babo’ beastly man who becomes gentle before the woman he loves
Through this drama, a different kind of attractiveness of Yoo Ah In was discovered. Though he is a macho man whose roughness can be matched by no one, before the woman he loves, he becomes a meek, hiccuping man. He is a man so pure he says whatever he feels, and moves according to whatever he thinks, but he also protects and watches over Yoonhee without a word—-our beastly man, Jaeshin. Many women are still crying out for Guh-roh sahyung, afflicted with ‘Guh-roh ache.’
“Jaeshin was just like me, Um Hong Sik (Yoo Ah In’s real name). Jaeshin’s temperament and thoughts were really very similar to my own. Occasionally, I also acted aspects [of Jaeshin] that I didn’t have within myself. Shouting suddenly and hiccuping in front of women are [two things that are] actually very different from myself. It was so awkward I thought I would die. (Laughter)”
In reality, Yoo Ah In has a ‘strong’ style when it comes to women. That’s why he also acted roughly toward his co-star Park Minyoung. Jaeshin had to treat Yoonshik like he was really a man, which is why he acted ruthlessly in putting [Yoonshik] in headlocks or physically fighting with him. Excepting that one point, Yoo Ah In and Guh-roh are 99% alike. Yoo Ah In also spoke of his character’s strong [capacity for] love.
“During school, I was also a rebellious kid. So I couldn’t attend school for a long time, and I couldn’t get along with life [society] very well. Jaeshin’s efforts to meet with his Sungkyunkwan friends, adapt to life, and reform the problems of society seemed beautiful to me.”
In 2003, Yoo Ah In debuted through the coming-of-age drama <Banolim>. In the movie <Antique Bakery>, he played the pretty pâtissière apprentice Kibum, and in the drama <The Man Who Can’t Marry>, he played the role of Park Hyunkyu, the fresh youth who dreams of loving freely to perfection, steadily improving his acting [with each role]. It took, it seems, eight years after his debut to meet his representative role, and one feels it came somewhat late. In one interview, he revealed his feelings on this, saying, “Every time I say it’s been eight years since I’ve been an actor, I’m embarrassed.”
“If I had listened to my manager, I probably would have made more money and earned more popularity, but when I decided something wasn’t right for me, I resolutely gave it up, and I have followed my convictions in choosing projects. That’s why I was able to take on a role as good as this one [in SKKS].”
Rather than happiness at finishing a drama successfully, he feels more regret. Asked about his future plans, he said that he will start by shaving his facial hair.
“This is the first time I’ve grown out my facial hair. It was unfamiliar because it was the first time, but it seemed to fit me well, so I was happy. Now that filming is over, I’m wondering whether I should cut it or not. Should I just completely shave my head one morning, while I’m at it? Ah! (Song) Joong Ki said that my most attractive point was my lips. I’m also planning on taking consistent care of my lips. Haha.”

With his flower-like looks, the love shaman who completely steals women’s hearts
“I’m Gu Yong Ha.”
This man has stolen women’s hearts in one move with his clever eloquence and winks. Yongha goes around the market streets as if he has not a care at all for worldly matters and worries—-but those who think of him as a screw-up who only cares about women and playing make a serious miscalculation. The scenes where he cares for his childhood friend Jaeshin as though his own body was hurt reveals a deep friendship and a penetrating insight into the ways of life. Through his portrayal of Yongha in this drama, Song Joong Ki has definitely confirmed his place as an actor.
“He’s really an attractive character. Yongha does everything ‘behind the scenes.’ He doesn’t have any special romance in the drama, and he doesn’t have a political goal, but he is a very fun friend. I think many people have shown interest and love in him because he’s a character you don’t often see in historical dramas.”
Except for Yongha, the rest of the Jalgeum Four students (Sunjoon, Jaeshin, Yoonshik) are entangled in a love triangle. Yongha realized this earlier than the others and watched over the situation with a knowing eye. But might he have any regrets for not having a romance himself?
“I’m sad about it. After finishing the drama, I thought there wouldn’t be any big aftereffect, but that wasn’t the case. As I’m the only one without a loveline, an aftereffect was created. [T/N: That is, he feels like someting is unfinished.] In my next project, I also want a role where I can love someone like crazy.”
The most memorable line in the script can be said without any hesitation: “I’m Gu Yongha.”
“After the line became a hot topic, things changed. When we would have unofficial bets for fun, people would divide into sides, but when I would say, ‘I’m Gu Yongha,’ no one would bet against my words. (Laughter)”
Song Joong Ki, who debuted through the movie <A Frozen Flower>, has been a vivid presence on the acting scene since. In the movie <Five Senses>, he plays a high school student with an ill-mannered love [story]; a talented ice skater in the drama <Triple>; and a cute hospital resident in the drama <OB/GYN>, showing his acting skills. Though he began acting at a relatively late age, his efforts at learning and studying harder than everyone else allowed him to shine as the clever Yeorim.

JYJ’s Park Yoochun (Micky Yoochun) has overcome the hazing [of public opinion] to emerge as a successful actor. It’s true that many people expressed concerns about his casting, he who had absolutely no experience in acting. But he portrayed the role of the dashing and prickly student perfectly, wonderfully putting to rest the worries and fears of many people. In fact, Park Yoochun had dreamed of acting since DBSK’s second album activities, and he underwent intensive acting training beginning three months before filming began to strongly build the basics of acting. “It seems like just yesterday that I was fighting with the hot sun on set, but suddenly winter has arrived. I’ve suffered a bit because of the winter cold that came suddenly without autumn in between. It was difficult because my body had a tough time, but I learned a huge amount. Because I gave everything I had and did my best during filming, I have no regrets. If I have a daughter later, it’s a drama I would definitely want to show her.”
Park Yoochun and Yoo Ah In are, along with the object of their love triangle Park Minyoung, all the same age as 1986-ers. In spending a long time stuck together, the three of them have become very close friends. [news] 101130 JYJ Attracts 70,000 Fans To Two-Day Concert

Despite the freezing cold, about 70,000 fans flocked to the Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul on Nov. 27 and 28 to watch the first concert of trio JYJ, composed of Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and Youngwoong Jaejoong.
The JYJ Worldwide Concert in Seoul was a follow-up to the trio’s successful JYJ worldwide album showcase that took them to New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas in North America; and to Asian cities Taipei, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
Under the direction of choreographer and artistic director Jeri Slaughter, the Seoul concert saw JYJ performing songs from their first English album, “The Beginning,” including “Ayyy Girl” and “Be My Girl.”
The trio also offered their condolences to the victims of North Korea’s artillery attack on Yeonpyeong island in South Korea where four people were killed.
The stadium was originally planned to be covered to protect the fans from the cold weather. However, hail fell on the morning of the concert, prompting the concert organizer to remove the roof structure to prevent any accident.
During the concert, JYJ announced that they will be having a worldwide concert tour that may take the trio again to different cities.
The trio was overwhelmed by the fans’ support and thanked them for coming to the concert.
“Thanks to all the fans who attended today's concert. Thank you so much, I was so moved when you all shouted out that you love us,” according to Jaejoong’s tweet, which was translated by fan site tohosomnia.net.
Jaejoong added, “All the challenges and situations we're experiencing right now are so unfamiliar and tiring, and they wear me out. But there is one thing that isn't unfamiliar. The people in front of my eyes who still love us.”

Members of boy band JYJ may have made headlines with their departure from one of Korea’s most popular bands, TVXQ, and with their efforts in broadening their fan base, but it seems they will need to work on the basics: professionalism and consideration to the audience.
The three-member group — consisting of Yu-chun, Jae-joong and Jun-su— held its first concert “JYJ Worldwide Concert in Seoul” in freezing weather at the Olympic Main Stadium, Sports Complex, Saturday night.
It snowed and rained a bit in the morning, and although the weather seemed to get better during the day, it got chilly and very windy again as evening descended.
By the time the concert was scheduled to start, which was 7 p.m., the bare and open stadium was literally ice cold.
To make matters worse, the concert was delayed for an hour, which made even the most devoted fans a bit frustrated.
Around 7:20, the three members suddenly appeared on the stage, thanking the fans for coming and also expressing their condolences to the victims of Yeonpyeong Island, where a North Korean artillery attack took place on Nov. 23.
“We are sorry for the delay,” was all the members said regarding the delay and they left the stage, leaving the fans waiting in the cold for another 40 minutes, some shouting “come out!” and “why aren’t you coming out!”
When the show finally started, which was around 8:10 p.m., it seemed the fans forgot all about the icy temperatures and the delay, as they shouted the members’ names and waved bright red glow sticks in the air in perfect harmony.
The members performed songs from their first album “The Beginning.” The first track “Empty” was impressive, along with the other numbers, as the group managed to put on a great show despite the cold.
Their hands and noses were bright red from the wind, but this didn’t stop them from dancing and running around the stage, waving and shouting out to the screaming crowd. Each member had an individual stage as well, with Jae-joong’s sexy track “Still In Love,” Yu-chun’s ballad medley and Jun-su’s reinterpretation of “I Can Soar” with an orchestra playing in the backdrop.
The group also presented some new tracks as well, such as “Nine,” “Fallen Leaves” and “Mission Make it.”
When the intro for “Be My Girl Remix” came out of the speakers, the crowd shouted even more loudly and followed the groups’ dance moves perfectly. Yu-chun recently posted the video for the number’s choreography on his twitter, and the fans managed to learn the moves and display a memorable flash-mob experience for the three members.
After singing some 18 songs, the members left the stage with the fans continuously shouting out their names. But JYJ, despite the fans who had waited for some freezing 10 minutes after their departure, didn’t return to give an encore.
Overall, the show was fun and entertaining. JYJ’s agency explained that the concert was produced by creative director Jeri Slaughter, who worked with Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera, but there was nothing extraordinary.
Laser shows, fireworks and unique installations have been around in the pop idol concert scene for quite some time; there’s even been pianos held up in the air and members flying over their fans on wires.
The two big screens on each side of the main stage was impressive, but it was not enough for the fans who sat in the back as it mostly offered full shots instead of close ups. Due to the frigid weather, the three singers also had a challenging time singing their songs, which mostly included their signature powerful dance choreography.
The concert’s stage effects would have been a bit better if they went on with their original plan in covering the open ceiling with a specially-made dome, but due to the grueling weather, this plan was scrapped.
Scrapping the dome was not only a regrettable incident for JYJ, but also for the fans as well. The tickets for the concert ranged from 110,000 won to 198,000 won, and concert organizers explained that the cost was a bit high due to the special effects, including the dome. Tickets for a concert held by SM Entertainment at the same venue cost 11,000 won to 88,000 won, a lot less expensive than JYJ’s.
In the end, fans had to pay full price for something they didn’t get to see, had to wait over an hour in the freezing cold without getting a clear explanation, plus were unable to enjoy an encore with the band.
It would have been hard for any experienced band or artist to perform in such adverse conditions, but it would have been more professional to prepare for the unexpected, especially if it was being held in late November, at an open and exposed stadium and charging a lot of money for seats.

(Jaejoong) I'm so sorry that the ceiling collapsed because of unexpected hail, and that there were so many changes to the staging, and that we couldn't use the laser show and front assisting stage..And I'm so sorry that all these made the rehearsal longer, which caused problems and delayed the concert,, Thank you so much everyone for smiling with joy though it was so cold.. (Jaejoong) We were so pumped up right up to the day before the performance,,But then the shows no one had ever seen before disappeared with a natural disaster..The moment we stepped into the stadium this morning..Tears sprung to our eyes. Junsu said that the most distressing thing was that from the moment the ceiling disappeared, regardless of whether it was due to a natural disaster or not, it felt as though we had lied to our fans, and he felt horrible about that.. [news] 101128 JYJ Holds Worldwide Concert In Seoul
JYJ officially kicked off their first solo concert titled “JYJ Worldwide Concert in Seoul” on November 27th, 2010 at the Seoul Jamsil Olympic Stadium. More than 30,000 fans which consist of locals and foreign fans across Asia flocked to the venue just to see the boys in action. The boys will put on another show today (November 28th). Before the concert started, JYJ expressed their condolences to the victims of YeonPyeong.
The concert was scheduled to start at 7PM but it got delayed for an hour which left the fans freezing out in the cold. However, Jaejoong compensate by apologizing to them via his twitter.

JYJ belted out a total of 20 songs from their album including solo numbers of each members and revealed two new tracks titled ‘Mission’ and ‘IDeal Scenario’.
The whooping 2 and a half hours concert was directed by American concert producer Jerry Slaughter who has worked with Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Pussycat Dolls and etc.
The original plan to cover the stadium like a dome to maximize the lighting effect as well as the sound quality was halted due to the bad weather. Unfortunately, the rain has tear down the tent structure of the dome which took them 3 days to install it. JYJ could not hide their disappointment but they have prepared a splendid performance for the fans.

Kpop Celebrities were also spotted the concert which includes MBLAQ’s Seung Ho & Mir alongside with SungkyunKwan Scandal Yoo Ah In and Song Joong Ki.
